The City of Corpus Christi, Texas (Population 305,215) is seeking an energetic, self-driven and results-oriented municipal law enforcement professional to serve as its next Chief of Police. Corpus Christi is located about 140 miles southeast of San Antonio on Corpus Christi Bay, an inlet off the Gulf of Mexico. The community boasts the 5th largest seaport in the United States by tonnage, and is a center for petrochemical manufacturing, large-scale fabrication, marine research, maritime shipping, and tourism. The City government has a staff of approximately 3,400 employees, including 451 sworn and 266 civilian personnel in the Police Department. Candidates should possess 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement that includes command experience, with a proven track record of managerial effectiveness and demonstrated ability to lead a complex police organization to achieve critical goals. Candidates must prioritize and be effective at both internal and external communications, and must have knowledge of and experience with intelligence-led policing and the principles of COMPSTAT. A BS/BA degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is required. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
