The International Association of Chiefs of Police is assisting the City of Hagerstown, Maryland, in its nationwide search for a Chief of Police. The ideal candidate will
  • possess a strong sense of personal and professional ethics and be able to evaluate and understand human behavior;
  • be an active and committed member of the community, who is responsive to the needs of the community;
  • demonstrate exceptional administrative, fiscal, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • be a respected and experienced law enforcement professional, skilled at building personal and collaborative relationships, both inside and outside of the department;
  • understand community diversity and effective strategies for engaging fair and impartial policing practices; and
  • have a background in an urban policing environment, and in dealing with socio-economic, drugs, and other social issues.
